What exactly is a Red Ticket?
It is the common name mineworkers use for the mining certificate of fitness. Under the Occupational Diseases in Mines and Works Act, no person may perform risk work at a controlled mine or works without a current certificate of fitness. Care Net issues the certificate after a proper examination against your Man Job Spec, and records it digitally.
Do short-term contractors need the full medical?
Yes. The certificate of fitness requirement applies to anyone performing risk work, whatever the length of the contract. A single contractor can walk into any of our four clinics and leave with the medical done, or join the crew when a mobile clinic is on your site.
How often must medicals be repeated?
Your mine's mandatory code of practice sets the schedule by job category and exposure, and the Occupational Medical Practitioner confirms it for each worker. We track every renewal date on one planner, so a certificate is re-tested before it lapses, not after.

Yes. One contractor is enough. What must the worker bring on the day?
A Man Job Spec completed by the employer. An ID or passport, since no examination can be done without identification. Glasses or hearing aids if used, and an audiologist report if applicable. Take chronic medication as usual, and avoid noise, food, sugar, energy drinks and smoking for one hour before the medical.
What happens when a worker leaves the mine?
The Mine Health and Safety Act requires an exit examination for workers who were under medical surveillance, and the worker receives a copy of the exit certificate. We run exit medicals at the clinic or on site, and the record goes straight into the worker's file.
How long must the medical records be kept?
