How often must the medical be repeated?
A medical certificate of fitness under the Construction Regulations is valid for one year, and the Occupational Medical Practitioner confirms the schedule for each worker against the job and its risks. What must the worker bring on the day?
A completed risk-based exposure form from the employer. An ID or passport, since no examination can be done without identification. Glasses or hearing aids if used, and an audiologist report if applicable. Take chronic medication as usual, and avoid noise, food, sugar, energy drinks and smoking for one hour before the medical.
Can one rigger come to a clinic?
Yes. One worker is enough. Yes. Operators of a mobile elevating work platform or a listed lifting machine must be trained and certified under the Driven Machinery Regulations, and that rests on being medically fit.
